Cadillac Interior Restoration Made Easy with ColorBond

Modern-day classic Cadillac’s are becoming popular as collector cars. The combination of unique styling, luxury, and affordability as compared to other collector cars makes them attractive to enthusiasts. While many of the cars have been kept in excellent condition, some examples need help with interior appearance. However, modern-day Cadillac interior restoration can be difficult as new old stock parts supplies are dwindling and restoration interior manufacturers aren’t adequately addressing these models. Which leaves junkyards as the main source for replacement upholstery and interior trim, and many of these parts are in no better condition than what needs to be replaced. However, in many cases, ColorBond LVP Refinisher can be used to make existing leather, plastic and vinyl interior components look great.

Check out this 1993 Cadillac Fleetwood that was restyled by owner Craig Jensen. Using ColorBond he changed the color of the seats, door panels, carpet, headliner, sun visors and rear parcel Transforming the interior from dark and sleepy to bright and vibrant.

Overall Craig used twenty-five cans of ColorBond LVP Refinisher in Cutty White #105, and five cans of ColorBond Carpet Stylin’ in Skid Mark Black for the carpet, headliner and rear parcel shelf. This came to a total of $700.00 for the paint, which is far less than the thousands of dollars a professional would have commanded for the Cadillac interior restoration.

“All-in-all I used Once I got started, I was surprised how easy it was.” says Craig. “I spoke with Malcolm at ColorBond, and he said preparation is the key. First, I used a 10:1 Isopropyl to water mix to clean everything, then wet-sanded with 1500 grit sandpaper. After that I put on a couple of coats of paint. At first my friends didn’t quite get the interior paint concept – they were skeptical. They were saying “Dude, you can’t paint your seats! That’s not going to work!” But then they saw it turned out great. I’m really happy with the results and all the compliments I’ve gotten so far. I can punch and twist the soft panels and the paint just doesn’t come off. It was a fun process. I’d totally do it again.”

Then we have the 1977 Cadillac interior restoration performed by Team Witt Customs. The Eldorado’s white seats, as well as a donor brown interior sourced from another car in the owner’s collection, were refinished in the same crimson color originally used with the 1977 Eldorado. Using ColorBond LVP Refinisher in GM Crimson #64, an exact match to the OEM color used with the 1977 Eldorado, Team Witt repainted the seats and armrests. As you can see, the results are amazing!

“Before the Eldorado restoration, we had used ColorBond for painting small interior areas on other projects.” Says Nikki Witt. “With the Eldorado, it was the first time we sprayed the whole interior. ColorBond was very easy and simple to use. It went on evenly and it turned out beautifully! The color came out pretty good, I think.”
