The Master’s Touch Interiors territory covers the Chicagoland and Milwaukee area west to almost Rockford, IL. About 95% of their business comes from doing interior repairs and refurbishment for car dealerships. The other 5% comes from body shops. Ben uses ColorBond LVP Refinisher in both Aerosol and Concentrate versions.

“We found changing to ColorBond increased our sales significantly. Before ColorBond my average day’s sale was $1K. It went to $2.5K after putting the ColorBond system in place. There were several reasons this. First, we were accustomed to color matching by eye with water-based systems. Which could take 20-30 minutes per job. With ColorBond I can grab the can off the shelf and immediately start painting. When doing several jobs during the day that could save a total of two or three hours. Which means I can do more jobs per day. As well I found that ColorBond bonds extremely well to plastic and is very difficult to scratch.” Says Ben. “ColorBond has been an excellent company to do business with. The paint quality is very consistent order to order. I’m always able to get someone on the phone and Malcolm and Wendy are great to work with.” Ben concludes.

JM Reconditioning

Jacob Ramirez is founder of JM Reconditioning, an automotive interior reconditioning business in the San Diego, California area that focuses primarily on servicing car dealerships. Jacob prefers to use ColorBond LVP Refinisher in Concentrate form.

Jacob Ramirez, owner of JM Reconditioning

Jacob started in the professional upholstery repair field in 1993 while working with a franchise that specialized in a new procedure for repairing cigarette burns in velour seats and headliners. In 1999 Jacob decided to leave and form JM Reconditioning, which has since grown to include more employees and work trucks.

When Jacob started his company, he had not yet learned about ColorBond. At the time Jacob was using the best interior upholstery and trim recoloring products he could find. There were solvent based products touted to be flexible to work on leather, vinyl, and plastic. Unfortunately, they were stiff, which often caused cracking and peeling. He used waterbourne products created to be softer and more flexible than the solvent-based coatings. However, he found waterbourne colorants didn’t dry evenly and had to be force dried with a heat gun, which was time consuming. Jacob was looking for a better solution when he came across ColorBond at a trade show. He was skeptical at first, but after speaking with ColorBond President Malcolm Johnson and testing the product himself, he was convinced.

Jacob says ColorBond has the finish characteristics of waterborne, and the advantage of the quick dry time and uniformity of being solvent based; The best of both worlds with the disadvantages removed. He also explains ColorBond has a higher concentration of colorant in the carrying medium. Which means it has excellent coverage and can be applied in thinner coats than other products. So, it doesn’t have issues with cracking and peeling.

When asked how ColorBond affected his business, Jacob explains his sales increased 40% due to time efficiencies. He can “spray and go”. He doesn’t have to come back an hour later to make sure the paint dried correctly. The results are excellent, which avoids having to redo work. The amount of time per job is reduced dramatically, therefore he can increase the number of jobs he can do in a day.

Jacob highly recommends ColorBond LVP Refinisher for professional upholstery repair. “There is nothing on the market as good as ColorBond” he says. “If a shop is having a problem obtaining quality and long-lasting results, they should try ColorBond”.

The Fixer

Buzz Williams is the owner of The Fixer, a mobile upholstery repair business located in Alabama which he started in 28 years ago. Buzz decided to try ColorBond back in 2006 and has been using it ever since. He does most of his work with ColorBond LVP Refinisher in Concentrate form.

“I started using ColorBond with my business of refurbishing used car interiors. Later, I started offering upholstery repair services to moving companies, furniture sales companies, marine dealers, and homeowners. Of course, I use ColorBond for them as well. ColorBond is at least equal to or better than modern furniture finishes.” Buzz says. “I have used a couple of other car interior paint brands before. With ColorBond the appearance and durability are much better. As well, a I get the best results with the least amount of effort compared to the others. ColorBond may cost more but the time saved makes it a bargain. With ColorBond the number of reworks and call backs to redo the job have been reduced dramatically. Which increases customer satisfaction and profit.” Buzz concludes.
